How does Activated Charcoal work?
First of all, we believe that homeopathic toothpaste and biodentistry are the most appropriate means of maintaining oral hygiene and health for people undergoing homeopathic treatment. Since homeopathic remedies are used in extremely small concentrations, any aggressive ingredients toothpaste can suppress their effect. Therefore we wanted to develop this special line of health, beauty and lifestyle products, whose ingredients are carefully selected and comply with the principles of homeopathy, so as not to interfere or act as an antidote to the medical preparations. We also felt there was a need for a toothpaste with minimal risk of allergic reactions and complete safety for children.
There are other activated oral charcoal powders - which are too messy and strong for daily use - and pastes - which are essentially normal toothpaste with activated charcoal added. Carbon 6 Lab is the only one that maintains a holistic, homeopathic aim.
The way activated charcoal works to whiten teeth is fairly simple: adsorbing plaque and microscopic tidbits that stain teeth.
We didn’t select it solely for its whitening power however - it also changes the pH balance in the mouth, which helps prevent cavities, gum disease and bad breath.

For over 10,000 years, healers from Chinese, Ayurvedic, and Western medicinal traditions have used activated charcoal to eliminate poisons and regulate intestinal health through the process of "adsorption" (as opposed to absorption), the adhesion of a thin layer of molecules to the surface of solid bodies or liquids with which they are in contact.
Activated charcoal is attained by burning a source of carbon such as wood (Willow Bark), debris, or coconut shells at high temperature, thus removing oxygen. The result is a highly adsorbent agent with millions of tiny pores that capture, bind, and remove poisons, heavy metals, chemicals, and intestinal gases which have thousands of times more weight than the charcoal itself. Just two grams of activated charcoal powder has about the same surface area as a football field. The porous surface has a negative electric charge, which in turn attracts positively charged toxins and gas for elimination.
Studies have shown that activated charcoal prevents many cellular changes associated with aging, including compromised adrenal gland, liver and kidney function, thus slowing the brain's increasing sensitivity to toxins, encouraging better cognitive functioning.
