CEO & Co-Founder
Jonathon Anderson was born in Toledo, Ohio, and raised in Evergreen, Colorado, where, from an early age, he exhibited a strong passion and skill for design. He fostered this by taking myriad technical art courses at local art museums and community colleges and channeled it into a job painting houses during the summer, which led to a burgeoning career in interior design when local Evergreen clients began soliciting his advice on color schemes and furniture selections.
While still in high school, Jonathon was scouted by a New York City modeling agent and graduated early to model in Europe for a year. Upon returning to the States, Jonathon moved to Los Angeles, where he quickly found work in event planning at Creative Artists Agency. This was followed by an eight-year stint as a coordinator and publicist at DDPR, whose clients include Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Walt Disney Studios, and a six-year consulting gig at Slate PR, whose clients include Vanity Fair, Tom Ford and GQ. Both jobs privileged Jonathon invaluable experience in the worlds of celebrity/media relations and event planning.
During this time, Jonathon sustained his creativity outside of work through painting and photography. In 2013, however, he decided it was time to revisit the world of art and design in a professional capacity, launching J. Anderson Studio and taking on interior design clients in Los Angeles and Palm Springs and creating the men’s swimwear line Son of Ander, set to debut in Spring 2019. Inspiration for the latter came from Jonathon’s dissatisfaction with the type of swimwear regularly seen on men in Los Angeles, who often settle for overly busy design and ill-fitting forms, and his goal of offering clients a more simple design and flattering cut.
In 2015, Jonathon saw a similar gap in the marketplace for a high-quality, all natural toothpaste when he had the good fortune of meeting Dr. Martin Giniger, a leading expert in oral health and teeth whitening product innovation, at an LA charity event. He pitched Dr. Giniger the idea of a toothpaste composed of activated charcoal and other all-natural ingredients that would promote oral hygiene, beauty and overall wellness. Together, the two decided to combine Jonathon’s innovative ideas and Dr. Giniger’s extensive experience to create the Carbon 6 Lab brand.
For Jonathon, the creation of Carbon 6 Lab marks the perfect marriage of lifelong interests in design and a concern for health and wellness, something instilled in him at a young age by his homeopathic mother, who would effectively treat her children’s sickness with all natural remedies as opposed to traditional antibiotics, and he is pleased to include some of these ingredients in the pioneering Carbon 6 Lab formula.
